“My project was based on the influence of technology in the development of a certain industry. I chose the music industry as it is a primary interest of mine and it is in a constant state of change owing to technology.”
My main career interest is the world of business, especially marketing and technology. I am currently in my second year of studying Business and French at Trinity College, which allows me to get a grasp
of the field of business while also having the added bonus of professional proficiency in a European language.
Business has always been an interest of mine. It has developed throughout school and college and is something I am excited to explore more of, both practically and in academia. My project itself came from a college assignment but I have summarised it, highlighting quotes and images to make it more accessible for this event.
My project was based on the influence of technology in the development of a certain industry. I chose the music industry as it is a primary interest of mine and it is in a constant state of change owing to technology. In the project,
I explore how the industry has seen its power dynamics change radically in recent times. Artists are now more in control of their own careers, and traditional methods have been eschewed in favour of innovative new strategies.
In addition, the art of music-making has become more accessible than ever, with the internet and, recently, artificial intelligence making it simple for anyone to create their own work and share it with the wider world. I hope this project and event begins to build my portfolio and experience. I am eager to express my interest in the music business to potential employers and build contacts and network.
My hopes for my future career would be to work in a forward-thinking company that has a modern ethos and outlook. Ideally, I would also like to put the French component of my degree to use. My ideal job would be in the music industry, but any job in the marketing or broader business world would appeal to me as well. Some record labels I am interested in are Warner Music, Sony and Universal.
I am currently still studying in Trinity College but I am eager to build my experience over the summer months, hopefully leading to full-time employment as a graduate.
